This workshop introduces the concepts of mindful eating to healthcare professionals, including counselors, social workers, dietitians, nurses, and others. Ideal for professionals working with patients needing better self-care skills or with those struggling with disordered eating, this workshop provides the knowledge and tools necessary to begin bringing mindfulness to your practice. Based on Donald Altmans 12-weeks to Mindful Eating Treatment Guide, participants learn:
« The language of mindfulness
« How to reduce stress using body awareness and breathing
« Understanding hunger--what is mindful and normal eating?
« How to move patients toward acceptance and commitment
« How to explore body acceptance
Donald Altman, M.A., is a counselor, former Buddhist monk, and Emmy-Award winning writer who developed 12-Weeks to Mindful Eating, an outpatient program at Providence St. Vincent Hospital. He is the author of Meal By Meal: 365 Daily Meditations for Finding Balance Through Mindful Eating, Art of the Inner Meal, and Living Kindness.
