President
Heather Watkins, RD, CD, CNSC
Heather is the Clinical Nutrition Manager at Providence Infusion and Pharmacy in Spokane, WA leading a group of home infusion RDs.  She has worked in various settings, including acute care and public relations, but has found her passion and calling in home infusion.  Heather graduated from Purdue University in 2002 with a B.S. in Organizational Leadership and then went back to school (again at Purdue!) to study Dietetics (class of 2014).  She enjoys spending time with her family, playing golf, warm summer nights and of course, volunteering for our profession.  She is looking forward to the year ahead and engaging as many members as possible!

Meghan Lyle, MPH, RDN
 

 

Meghan works as the Prevention Center Administrator at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, which supports population-based prevention research implementing nutrition and exercise interventions.  Meghan has ten years of experience in nonprofit and business sectors, and is an advocate for evidence-based healthcare and health systems policies.  She lives in Seattle with her husband and two energetic kids, and runs competitively on the side to keep up her stamina for the adventures of life.

Annie Frederick, RDN, CD, LD

Annie is a Clinical Liaison for Providence Infusion and Pharmacy serving the Business and Development ministry in Spokane WA. Annie has served in the home infusion industry in many roles over the past 26 years. She enjoys volunteering for our profession as well as other local non profits in her home town of Newport WA.

Melissa Molloy, MS, RDN
 

Melissa is the Manager of Clinical Nutrition and Dietary Services at Valley Medical Center. She has worked in a variety of settings including outpatient, food management, recipe analysis, and clinical. Melissa graduated from Michigan State for her bachelor's and Eastern Illinois for her Master's. Looking forward to keeping everyone in the loop on all our great happenings.

Cynthia Bartok, PhD, RDN, CD
 

Cynthia Bartok, Ph.D., RDN, CD is a registered dietitian with over 20 years of experience working in research, teaching, community, and clinical settings. She currently is an Associate Professor in the Department of Nutrition and Exercise Science at Bastyr University. She has co-authored more than 20 book chapters and peer-reviewed journal articles in dietetics practice, sports nutrition, and obesity prevention. She lives in Kirkland, WA with her family and pack of rescue dogs.

Ben Atkinson, MS, RDN, CD
 

Ben currently works at the Coordinator for Child Nutrition at the Auburn School District. He is in charge of creating menus for all grade levels, working with children with food allergies, and 'other duties as assigned'. He has been involved with WSAND for several years at various positions and loves helping the profession and its members. He has also been involved in several DPGs and the Academy's Interoperability Committee.

Angel Planells, MS, RDN
 

Planells is the owner of a private practice/consulting firm. He is the immediate past-president of the Washington State Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and a former president of the Greater Seattle Dietetic Association. Planells has been honored for his work as chair of the Academy's National Organization of Men in Nutrition member interest group for recruiting and retaining men in the nutrition and dietetics profession. Planells earned a certificate in adult weight management. He is a graduate of Tulane University and earned a master's degree from Columbia University.

Alexa Halling, MS, RDN
 

Alexa Halling is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and healthcare advocate in Seattle, WA. In addition to serving on the WSAND executive board, Alexa is a health policy consultant and political organizer. She manages political campaigns and also serves as a precinct committee officer in her local legislative district. Her professional interests include health policy, community nutrition, food insecurity, and food justice.

Allie Elison, RDN
  Allie is a Spokane native, a graduate of Seattle Pacific University, and currently lives and works in the Seattle area with Washington local pride. With the Greater Seattle Dietetic Association (GSDA) student representative leadership role as her launching point, Allie has enjoyed serving on many Academy leadership boards including: the Idaho Academy on their annual conference planning committee, the Colorado Academy as their Member Benefits Chair and the GSDA as their PR and Marketing Chair.

Carol Taylor, MPH, RDN

 

 

Carol Taylor earned her Bachelor’s in Nutritional Sciences from the University of New Hampshire, she began her career in clinical nutrition in Washington DC in a level 1 Trauma hospital while also earning her Master’s in Public Health. Carol then moved to Yakima Washington where she now works as an outpatient dietitian for Virginia Mason Memorial Hospital. Carol is a certified Health Coach, Weight Management Specialist, and is also certified in Adult Weight Management.
