The Diabetes Management Update – 2011 course will provide an overview of diabetes management with a focus on heart disease, weight-loss issues, gestational diabetes, titrating insulin, women’s issues in diabetes and prevention of amputations. Short “rapid-fire” sessions will provide succinct updates on a variety of diabetes topics including incretins, DPP4 inhibitors, nutrition and exercise instructions that can be provided in the office. The goal is to provide primary-care physicians, internal medicine physicians and allied health professionals with the basic tools to treat various issues of this complex disease in the primary-care setting.

This conference is intended for primary-care providers, including those in family medicine and internal medicine, as well as allied health professionals treating patients with diabetes.

Swedish Medical Center is located at 747 Broadway in Seattle, Washington. The conference will be held in the Glaser Auditorium on the first floor of Swedish Medical Center. Parking is available in the Broadway Garage at 747 Broadway. From I-5 (northbound and southbound), take the James Street exit. Travel east on James Street. Turn left (north) onto Broadway. Turn left into the main hospital entrance and follow the signs to the Broadway underground parking garage.
