A new community-based initiative is coming to Pierce County to promote healthy lifestyle choices for children, youth and families. MultiCare Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital, in partnership with ACHIEVE, will host a one-day Healthy Communities Summit to launch this new initiative. The initiative will focus on ways to increase physical activity and promote healthy eating in each of the six sectors (Schools, After School, Early Childhood, HealthCare, Workplace, and Community) that influence youth and families in many Pierce County Cities & Towns.

Ready, Set, Go! 5210 uses a multi-sector approach to reach youth and families where they live, study, work and play to promote healthy lifestyles. The program is based on the idea that families exposed to consistent health promotion messages through several settings that have policies and environments supporting healthy choices, will be more likely to adopt or maintain the behaviors in their daily lives.

Ready, Set, Go! 5210 program interventions center on the use of the common message of “5-2-1-0”. These behaviors are supported by science and endorsed as recommendations by medical professionals.

The Summit will provide you with the tools you need to start implementing Ready, Set, Go! 5210 in your organization and/or community.

Specials guest speakers include Kevin Dedner, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation & Emily Walters, Let’s Go! Maine

Join us in creating a healthy future for Pierce County. Together we can make a difference in the lives of our youth and the health of our community.
