Details:
Please join us for the March 29-April 1, 2008 Clinical Nutrition Management Symposium in San Antonio. This years theme - Leading System Improvement: Optimizing Organizational and Patient Outcomes is built around the Institute of Medicines (IOM) vision for a safer, higher-quality health care system in the 21st century.

Transitioning to the health care system envisioned by the IOM will require clinical nutrition managers (CNM) to make further improvements in their current systems of care. Improvement initiatives must focus on redesigning care systems around the six quality goals outlined by the IOM: safety, effectiveness, patient-centeredness, timeliness, efficiency, and equity. Because of the importance of information technology (IT) in system improvement, it should be integrated into all redesign efforts. As we move into the 21st century, it is incumbent upon us to master the use of IT in order to provide effective patient care.

This symposium will offer innovative strategies to help CNMs lead efforts to improve clinical and administrative systems in their organizations and to achieve a higher quality of patient care.

What are the conference objectives?

Participants will identify strategies to
ªSuccessfully lead system improvement
ªIncorporate the nutrition care process, outcome measures, and standardized language into daily practice
ªIntegrate the use of information technology to support and improve clinical and administrative processes
ª Include research into clinical practice to facilitate improvements in quality; and publish research outcomes
ª Prepare practitioners for the 21st century health care system to provide patient-centered care as members of an interdisciplinary team, emphasizing evidence-based practice, quality improvement approaches, and informatics
ªUse complexity science, the new science of the 21st century, to lead and improve the work of teams
ªSuccessfully manage different age groups
ªPlan for Joint Commission and CMS surveys and optimize survey outcomes
