Educational Objectives

After completing this activity, participants should be able to:
Describe the role physicians and other health care professionals can play in developing a healthier food system through advocacy efforts with patients and their families, within health care facilities, and within the community to promote healthful policies
Identify the gaps in the medical model that have contributed to low clinical engagement on environmental health and food issues
Access different strategies for engagement on food system policies such as the Farm Bill and antibiotics legislation
Develop individual strategies for engaging in food system reform at various levels

Welcome to the 2026-2027 membership year! As we look ahead, my focus is on strengthening the organizational structure of our Academy, supporting modernization and innovation within the field of dietetics, and fostering a strong, connected community of nutrition professionals across Washington.
