Treasurer
Position: Treasurer
Term: Elected by the board: 2-year term
Qualifications:
- Member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND)
- Member of the North Sound Dietetic Association (NSDA)
- Excel or Google Sheets experience is beneficial (not required - training to be provided by outgoing treasurer)
General Duties of all NSDA Board Members:
- Attend all board meetings, events and professional development meetings
- Contribute to the Fall Newsletter
- Assist with social media, advertising, and email, as needed
- Assist Nominating chair with recruitment and orientation of your position for the following year
- Assist in recruiting sponsors
- Perform any additional duties as directed by the BOD
General Duties of the Treasurer:
- Oversee financial status of the association.
- Report balance, financial status of NSDA, and any budget goals at all NSDA board meetings.
- Update mailing address to your own address - this can be completed online: https://moversguide.usps.com/mgo/disclaimer
- Set up and manage electronic payment accounts (PayPal, Square).
- At professional development meetings: pay speaker and venue. Be sure to obtain and save the invoice/receipt from the venue
- Collect membership dues and any payments to NSDA at professional development meetings (from student reps).
- Monitor email and respond to PayPal notifications, update membership and meeting attendee lists (President and President-elect also does this)
- Collect donations from sponsors as available.
- Monetary donations: provide a written receipt to the sponsor with the amount received from the donor.
- In-kind donations: these are donations of goods or services. Provide a receipt to sponsor that states with no monetary value of the item(s) because the donor must determine the value - this is per IRS guidelines.
- Relay info regarding sponsor's donation to President and Media Chair.
- Make cash/check deposits to BECU account as needed
- Make transfers from PayPal and Square to BECU account as needed
- See that full accurate financial records are kept, complying with tax laws for non-profit organizations, and providing documents for periodic audit at the discretion of the BOD
- Purchase any supplies needed for NSDA or refund NSDA board member for supply expenses.
- Have any and all of the powers and functions usually vested in the office of treasurer
- Assist with the development/implementation of fund-raising activities
- File annual tax form
- File annual Secretary of State report
- Complete and submit annual WSAND report
- Maintain all records for finances (binder with copies of IRS and WA state filings, receipts/invoices, etc.)
