2011 WSDA OUTSTANDING DIETITIAN OF THE YEAR
NANCY JAMES, RD, CSP, CD
"This award is the most prestigious recognition that the Washington State Dietetic Association (WSDA) can give. The award honors a dietitian who has demonstrated leadership and who has served as an outstanding role model of professionalism and as a source of inspiration to others in dietetics.
Nancy’s contributions to our profession are truly exceptional. She has been a board certified Specialist in Pediatric Nutrition since 2002. She has been active in the district and state association by serving as Chair of ADA, DPD-22 PNPG Ketogenic Diet Subcommittee, and secretary of WSDA, Pediatric Nutrition Practice Group and on WSDA and the Greater Spokane Dietetic Association (GSDA) Nominating Committees. Nancy has chaired GSDA’s nominating committee twice and chaired GSDA’s Professional Issues Committee.
Nancy has committed significant time and energy to promoting the field of dietetics. She is an outstanding educator as evidenced by the frequent requests she receives to prepare and present on a wide variety of nutrition related topics. Nancy has taught resident physicians, medical students, nursing and dietetic students, fellow dietitians, speech therapists, and advanced practitioners. Nancy teaches parents about feeding children and has developed cookbooks and delivered cooking classes for children. Additionally, she has been a guest speaker at several conferences.Nancy has been recognized for her contributions to the field of dietetics by being awarded the Clinical & Research Practice Award for Excellence by WSDA and the Patient Teaching Excellence award by Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center and Children’s Hospital." - taken from WSDA
